Who Should attend You are a Div 1 officer, first line manager or a member of the middle management who needs to conduct public consultations. You may have previously attended the “Public Consultation and Communication Workshop” (Course Code: PCW10).
Remark This programme is open to Singapore Public Officers only.

With Singaporeans wanting a greater say in policy-making these days, you need to adopt a citizen-centric approach for your organisation, build greater public awareness about national challenges and engage citizens in meaningful dialogues at the same time. In other words, you need to be proficient in conducting public consultation exercises.

You will get an overview of the principles of a public consultation exercise. Hear first-hand experiences from agencies which had conducted such exercises before and translate your learning into practice in a small group case study exercise. You will also be given the Public Consultation Toolkit, developed to provide you with the necessary public consultation guiding principles and practices, and taught how to make full use of it during a public consultation exercise.

*This course is the first of a three public consultation modules.

INSTRUCTORS
Krishnasamy Bhavani
K Bhavani was the former Director of Emergency Preparedness in the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA). Prior to this appointment, she was the Director of Public Communications (2008-Jul 2011) and Director of Corporate Communications and the Press Secretary to the Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts from 2004 to 2011. She was also Head of Public Affairs with the Ministry of Trade and Industry (1993-1996) and Head Media Relations Branch in the Ministry of Defence (1999 to 2002).
 
Bhavani was the President of the Institute of Public Relations of Singapore (IPRS) for seven years and now serves as Chairperson for the IPRS Accreditation Board.
 
She has been training for the last 25 years. She has taught in IPRS, SIM and MDIS in public relations and communications courses. She is now an associate trainer with the Civil Service College and trains in public communications and public consultation programmes.
 
Bhavani has conducted in-house programmes for Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Education, Maersk, Glaxo, Mitsui, Jones Lang Lasalle, ITE and other organisations. Under the IPRS banner, Bhavani has trained school principals, teachers and CLOs in media management courses. She has also successfully conducted several crisis communications workshops. For the last few years, she has also been training under “Place and Train Programme”, a WDA sponsored programme for new recruits in the PR industry.
 
She was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for PR professionals by IPRS in 2010. She was given the Global PR Professional award by the Association of Business Communications, India in 2009.
