Programme Methodology
The programme actively employs a wide range of learning methodologies
to best draw out learning points from each session and to cater
to different learning styles. Participants will be exposed to
briefings, small group discussions, case studies, and learning
journeys to a variety of government agencies and facilities.
To facilitate peer learning, classroom sessions will be conducted
in cluster seating.
Policy Development Tracks
Under the theme “Policy Development”, participants
will have opportunities to go more in-depth into specific
policy areas to examine how principles of governance are translated
into policies.
This segment will involve a mix of overview
briefings, case study discussions and learning journeys. There
are 2 policy focus areas to choose from:
Infrastructure Development
– includes sessions on urban planning, land transport
and environment & water management.
Social Security –
includes Singapore’s unique social security scheme (i.e.
Central Provident Fund), healthcare financing, public housing
and welfare scheme with work-requirements.
Learning Journeys
These are study visits within the programme with structured
learning objectives. They include visits to public sector
agencies and facilities, industries and the social spaces
where Singaporeans live, eat, work and play.
Social Activities
Interesting local tours will be arranged on selected weeknights
to give participants a glimpse of the vibrant attractions
and colourful culture which make Singapore a choice destination
for leisure and business visitors. For the inaugural run,
a city night tour, visit to the Night Safari and several social
dinners were arranged to expose participants to the sights,
sounds, and taste of Singaporean culture.
