About CPE

Mission
The Centre for Public Economics (CPE) seeks to advance economics thinking and analysis in public policy, by enhancing the understanding of economics by policymakers and embedding rigorous economic thinking in the public service.

Activities
CPE provides policy-relevant, practitioner-oriented economics training to policymakers in Singapore. We document and codify the economic rationale behind Singapore’s public policies through case studies and research papers, which are used in the College’s courses and milestone programmes.

In addition, CPE does research on new issues that Singapore is grappling with and cross-cutting areas where our development or policy experience offer useful insights, such as behavioural economics, the study of institutions, and government in markets.

CPE also organises lectures, roundtables and symposiums where local and foreign experts can introduce new economic concepts and tools to the policy community and engage in discussion with policymakers and public sector leaders.
