2nd Economics for Policymakers Programme
24 November to 2 December 2009

The Economics for Policymakers Programme (EPP) is a 6-day programme suitable for officers with 3-6 years of service in government. Its objectives are to enable public officers to appreciate the economic principles that underpin many of Singapore’s policies, and expose them to the wider theoretical and international contexts in the various policy domains. The EPP begins with a 2-day introduction to key concepts in microeconomics, macroeconomics and behavioural economics. It then proceeds to explain how economic concepts and thinking have been applied to policy domains such as social security, land transport, healthcare, and regulatory policies. Participants will also have an opportunity to engage and discuss with senior policymakers who have extensive experience applying economic principles in policy formulation.

Resource persons for the EPP comprise policy practitioners and academics who have in-depth knowledge of their domain areas. Sessions are conducted using a mix of briefings, case study discussions, a learning journey and dialogue sessions. The fee for this programme is $2,675 per participant, inclusive of 7% GST and meals. Please contact Ms. Nurul Huda Jalil (DID: 6874-1875; nurul_huda_jalil@cscollege.gov.sg) for more information.
