Institute of Policy Development

The Institute of Policy Development (IPD) grooms first-class public sector leadership through an integrated suite of development programmes and services that emphasize leadership development and public governance. We are part of a larger Civil Service College (CSC), which comes under the purview of the Public Service Division (PSD), Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

14 - 25 June 2010

 

20th Executive Development Course

 

The 20th Executive Development Course (EDC) is a two-week, full-time milestone programme designed to equip promising young officers with relevant policy knowledge and public service ethos.

Participants will gain a better understanding of public sector management principles and skills, to enable them to be better leaders and team players in their respective agencies. The EDC will also provide them with the opportunity to network with their counterparts across the public service and aid in their development of a Whole-of-Government perspective.

 

 

5 July - 13 August 2010 17th Senior Management Programme 2010 

The Senior Management Programme (SMP) is a six-week full-time course for Director-level officers from the Administrative, Professional, Uniformed and Department Services, as well as Statutory Boards.

 

The programme provides participants with the opportunities for deeper appreciation and rigorous analyses of governance imperatives, policy development and implementation issues. It also aims to strengthen participants' management skills to prepare them to be better leaders. There is also a study trip component to countries of strategic interest to Singapore. The SMP is designed to provide the environment for participants to network and foster esprit de corps.

 

16 August - 1 September 2010

1st Management Development Course

 

The Management Development Course (MDC) aims to provide high-potential officers at the middle management level with the opportunity to examine key strategic policy areas in depth. It also seeks to sharpen their leadership skills and management capabilities, enabling them to become more effective middle managers.

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

i. Analyse the complexities of policy issues and challenges

ii. Appreciate the need for a whole-of-government (WOG) approach

iii. Discuss developments and trends in the regional and global environment, and their implications for Singapore

iv. Examine resource management practices in the Public Service

v. Gain a greater awareness of personal leadership strengths and development needs, and develop capabilities to lead, manage and engage teams for high performance

vi. Create and maintain a network of peer support to aid future collaboration

 

 

27 September  - 8 October 2010
